Billockby & Burgh Lands Trust
The Trust, founded with the amalgamation of old small charitable bequests of land and aid, given to the Villages of Billockby and Fleggburgh over many years. The charter being operated under guidance of the charity Commission of Great Britain and conforms to the current legislation. The Trust is responsible for the daily operation together with contractual agreements affecting farming, land management, conservation, charitable giving and sporting rites.
What the trust does...
Farming
The Trust operates a farming strategy that includes both grazing and arable farming. Various sections are set aside under grazing licence for both cattle and horse and the production of barley and sugar beet.
Conservation
The Trustees manage the land to maintain and improve where possible with the assistance from English Nature, Norfolk Wildlife Trust and the Broads Authority. Burgh Common (also known as Fleggburgh Common) covers approximately 60 hectors, with the aim to preserve and protect its diverse fen vegetation and wildlife.
Management
The trust together with Brown and Co carries out work that is necessary to conform with current legislation. We operate leasing agreements, land development and sporting opportunities under fixed term licences’.
Charity
The Trust offers help and assistance by way of its historical past in the giving of aid to the Villagers of Fleggburgh and Billockby through Christmas distribution and personal need.
